Although the Germany's own tank force was mostly relying on captured Allied vehicles, one domestic project A7V first saw action in the Spring offensive of 1918 (including the first tank vs. tank engagement in Villers-Bretonneux on April 24th) and afterwards. Only 20 were build before the end of the war.

Here, number 528 "Hagen" was one of the Schwere Kampfwagen-Abteilung Nr. 02`s vehicles accidentaly hit by friendly artillery fire, abandoned and captured by the New Zealand troops near Frémicourt, August 31st 1918.
